Little Lukes Teachers and Therapy Professionals Eligible for Federal Loan Forgiveness Programs
Certified teachers and related education and therapy professionals may be eligible for loan forgiveness when working at Little Lukes. This applies to certain loans including Perkins and Stafford Loans. Little Lukes has designation by the US Department of Education as an educational service agency classified as a low-income school for the following school years: 2016-2017, 2015-2016, 2014-2015, 2013-2014, 2012-2013

According to the NY State website, “The Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program is intended to encourage individuals to enter and continue in the teaching profession. If you teach fulltime for five complete and consecutive academic years in certain elementary and secondary schools and educational service agencies that serve low-income families, and meet other qualifications, you may be eligible for forgiveness of up to a combined total of $17,500 on your Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans and your Subsidized and Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loans.”

Speech Pathology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Special Education Teachers, Counseling and Recreational Therapy are also included under the Perkins program loan forgiveness according to Federal Student Aid.
