CARES 3 Childcare Scholarship Application for Oct-Dec 2020

We understand that reliable and safe childcare is important to our community. We are dedicated to providing reliable childcare and excellent preschool services while minimizing the risk to Covid-19 for children and our staff.  Little Lukes Preschool & Childcare Center reopening plan is available here on the website and was emailed to families.  

The reopening plan addresses:

1.     Keeping children and employees safe

2.     Proactive plan for children who are sick

3.     Proactive plan for employees who are sick

4.     Employee relations work plan

5.     Communication and training plan

These documents will change as the situation and guidance changes, and our commitment is to keep you informed as we make changes.  Procedures to reduce risk will be in place that will require more time and patience from parents.

REMOTE LEARNING

  • Little Lukes remote learning is available for our preschool children with special needs (SCIS Class) in the centers, and for children ages 0-5 in Early Intervention or Preschool Related Services in the itinerant setting.
  • Parent may choose 100% remote instruction, 100% in-person, or a combination of in-person and remote instruction for all Little Lukes services including SCIS preschool.  
  • Services will be offered as outlined in the child’s IEP and may include special education teacher services, physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech therapy.
  • Some parents may elect to keep children home due to medical issues or other at-risk family members in the household.  
  • Parents will participate in scheduling teletherapy and a responsible adult will be present during all teletherapy sessions to keep child engaged.  
  • If our centers are closed temporarily (example for cleaning or quarantine) for more than 2 school days, Little Lukes SCIS preschool will temporarily switch to offering teletherapy services until the group can return to the preschool classroom. 


TESTING AND CONTACT TRACING

People with these symptoms or combinations of symptoms may have COVID-19:

o   Fever (greater than 100.0)

o   Cough

o   Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

         Or at least two of these additional symptoms:

o   Chills

o   Muscle or body aches pain

o   Headache

o   Sore throat

o   New loss of taste or smell

o   Fatigue

o   Congestion or runny nose

o   Nausea or vomiting

o   Diarrhea

If a person is exhibiting fever or two or more of the additional symptoms listed upon arrival, the person will not be accepted into school. The person will require a doctor’s note returning them to school OR a negative COVID-19 test to return to school.  See plan for additional details on students & staff with symptoms during school day. 

 

A person with confirmed COVID-19 may return to school when he or she has met ALL the CDC criteria for discontinuation of home isolation listed below:

  • Improvement in respiratory symptoms (e.g., cough, shortness of breath) AND
  • At least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared. AND   
  • At least 2 days (48 hours) have passed since recovery defined as resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications.


If a student or staff tests positive for COVID-19, Little Lukes will contact and coordinate with county health department officials.

  • We will communicate with families and staff that a Positive COVID-19 case has been determined in the center. 
  • The building will be cleaned with disinfecting methods approved by OCFS and EPA.
  • Little Lukes will stay in communication with families and staff about the plan.
