Why Lynne Linked Up with Little Lukes as a Syracuse Speech-Language Pathologist
Moments like this go viral.
They flood Facebook feeds with feel-good energy.
Sitting in a chair is a nonverbal, little boy with Autism. He’s looking across
the table at his speech pathologist as she runs through a variety of methods to
communicate, aiming to identify the most effective way for the student to
communicate his wants and needs. This could be through signing, verbal speech,
picture symbols or a communication device.
After months of practicing and learning, the little boy who used
signs and picture symbols to share his thoughts does something out of the norm.
He pointed to a picture representing the word “play”, used sign
language to sign “play” and to everyone’s astonishment said “play” aloud,
speaking for the very first time.
“I cried I was so overwhelmed,” said Lynne. “He used all three
methods of communication that we had been targeting, so it was a giant win!”
These magical moments of harnessing the best in children’s language
and communication potential are something Little Lukes Speech-Language
Pathologist Lynne relishes in and for good reason. After working for Little
Lukes Preschool for 15 months as a center-based therapist as well as itinerant
work, Lynne found something worth keeping.
“I stay because I love my Little Lukes work family. They make each
day worth it when you get to be a part of a team that helps each child make
progress towards their goals. I also love the students. Watching them grow and
learn each day is really rewarding.”

speech pathologist at Little Lukes.
Q: Why
did you select Little Lukes over other Syracuse speech-language pathology jobs throughout
the country?
Lynne: I
like Little Lukes because it is a locally owned company vs. a large, national healthcare
company. I like the small-town feel and personal aspect so that I can feel like
I am truly a part of something and making an impact.
Also not that everything is about money, but the pay for Little
Lukes is great! It is definitely higher than other opportunities within the
Central N.Y. area
Q: What do you enjoy about the Upstate
New York region enough to want to live here?
Lynne: I love the diversity of the area.
There are plenty of parks and lakes to hike and explore the great outdoors with
having Syracuse close enough for the city feel for shopping and a night out.
Q: Why
should others seeking Syracuse speech-language pathology jobs consider making
the move to Little Lukes?
Lynne: This company has a lot to offer.
You have a variety of settings to choose to work in with just one company,
which is exciting. There are a lot of opportunities to enhance your skills and
work with a variety of other professionals.
Lynne’s final takeaway:
“The great team of employees that they have acquired makes
everything. Anyone can work for any company, but when the people you work with
support you, build you up and help you grow professionally, it really makes a
job great!”
