Little Lukes Pulaski Celebrates 10 Years!

This week Little Lukes in Pulaski celebrated 10 years of childcare!

September first marks a lot of things in our community. It is the time of the year with children and college students start their fall semester, it is the start of fall weather in the North East, and it is almost time to kickoff football season. But for Little Lukes it has a different meaning; it marks the anniversary of opening their Pulaski center. “Every September is special for us, as it marks another year of growth and learning from each other and from the children in our care, but this year is extra special for us,” says Lindsey Hermann, Director of the Pulaski location. This year, Little Lukes celebrated ten years of childcare service to the Pulaski community.

Reminiscing on the last ten years.

Little Lukes expanded their care for children in the Pulaski area ten years ago. “I was actually working in this exact childcare center before Little Lukes took over,” explains Lindsey. Lindsey was working as a Lead Preschool Teacher when Little Lukes took management of the Pulaski daycare center and was soon promoted to Assistant Director. She then took on the responsibility of Program Director five years later. “My favorite part about being in this center the last eighteen years, is the relationships. When you work with a community this long you build an irreplaceable bond with families. Often we get to know the entire family throughout the years as their children grow and come to our center for daycare,” says Lindsey. Little Lukes Assistant Director, Karla Roberts, has also been with the center for many years, beginning her career before Little Lukes took over management, just like Lindsey. “I have known the families that come to this center for a long time. I started working here in 2006 as a Lead Preschool Teacher, then became Assistant Director when Lindsey became Program Director,” explains Karla.

One of the most special elements about servicing the Pulaski community and surrounding areas the last ten years, is how close the community is. “Many of our teachers and other staff members here at the center grew up in this area,” says Lindsey. Little Lukes not only services Pulaski families, but also many families that live in Sandy Creek, Williamstown, Central Square, and more. “Because many of our staff are from this area, they relate very easily to the families that come to us for care, and many of them already know some of the families!” says Karla.

A simple party representing a big milestone!

Every year Little Lukes Pulaski celebrates their ‘birthday’ but this year deserved a special recognition. “We were very excited to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Little Lukes Pulaski! It’s a big accomplishment and it deserves to be recognized!” says Lindsey. Some of the teachers and children surprised Lindsey and Karla with a ‘Happy Birthday Little Lukes’ sign and Lindsey put together a party with cake and balloons. In quant Pulaski fashion, the party was quiet and simple, but the meaning behind it carried an important message. As Karla explains, “the last ten years servicing the families in this area have been wonderful and rewarding and we can’t wait to see where Little Lukes is in the next ten years!”
