Crossing State Lines to Find the Best Speech-Language Pathology Job
As
a brand new name to the Little Lukes Preschool and Childcare Center’s extraordinary
roster of speech-language pathologists, Kelly is eager.
She
is eager to apply a wealth of knowledge as a recent State University of New
York at Fredonia Masters Degree graduate.
She is eager to work alongside a team of veteran staff who
are making Kelly’s shift from student clinician to speech-language therapist
smooth and enjoyable.
She
is eager to start a new chapter in a new state.
As an itinerant speech therapist
at Little Lukes, Kelly finds joy in working with preschool and early
intervention children. But when searching for the perfect speech therapy job,
she wanted options and a chance to explore a range of opportunities including the
chance to work with adult clients. Little Lukes provides various avenues to
help each speech-language therapist feel fulfilled in their career; something Kelly
is already seeing firsthand.
“It has been a great experience for me so far,
and I think it would be for others considering Little Lukes as well,” said
Kelly. “I am excited to work for a company with a welcoming team that really
cares about helping me succeed.”
Moving from her home state of
Pennsylvania to Central New York came with a change that Kelly embraced to
pursue her passion to the fullest.

Q: How has the Syracuse
speech-language pathology team nurtured your professional growth thus far?
Kelly: As a new therapist to the company, it can feel
overwhelming at times with all the information to take in and paperwork to
learn. It is definitely a learning process, and the Little Lukes team has been
doing everything they can to help make this a smooth transition for me.
Q: What is appealing about the Central New York
location?
Kelly: I think that this area is beautiful and that
it will be a great place to get a fresh start. I really enjoy hiking and enjoying
pretty scenery, and there are plenty of opportunities in this region for those
activities. I am currently in Oswego, but it is nice that Syracuse is not a
very far drive, so there is the option to go there occasionally on the weekends
if I am looking for other things to do.
Q: Why did you expand your speech-language
pathology job search to another state?
Kelly: I was originally not looking to relocate, but
I decided it would not hurt to do an interview with Little Lukes. I applied to
multiple jobs in both Pennsylvania and New York to keep my options open. After
my interview with Little Lukes went really well, I started doing more research
and just really felt that it would be a good fit for me! Little Lukes is a
great starting point for my career as an SLP and I look forward to beginning
this journey.
