College Loan Forgiveness for Teachers Perkins Loan Repayment

The top 5 things to know about the Perkins Loan Forgiveness Program!

  1. You must be a Full-time teacher for five consecutive years in a designated elementary or secondary school or educational service agency serving students from low-income families. Special Education teachers and regular teachers can also qualify.
  2. You may qualify for up to 100% loan forgiveness!
  3. You will need a verification letter from your employer and a teaching certificate.
  4. You must have made 120 monthly payments and not be in default.
  5. You must request the appropriate forms from the office that administers the Federal Perkins Loan program at the school that holds your loan. You must also provide any documentation the school requests to show that you qualify for cancellation of your Perkins Loan.
